Core Keeper puts great emphasis on player mobility and freedom, letting you do whatever you want in the game without any supervision or quest markers to guide you. It is, at its core (pun intended), an exploration adventure game that is meant to excite and incite emotions within the player.
You know what's better than exploring unknown caves and fighting tough bosses as you progress through an interesting world? Doing it with a pet that can help you along the way. Getting pets in Core Keeper requires players to hatch eggs with an incubator, which can be done fairly early in the game — if you know what to look for.
The collection of indie games available on Xbox Game Pass are stellar, and here is a look at the best titles you can play.
The first step to hatching an egg is obtaining one in the first place. There are three ways to obtain eggs in Core Keeper.
After you've obtained your egg of choice, the next step is to build an incubator, provide it with electricity, and put the egg within the incubator for 30 minutes. After the 30 minutes (real-time) are up, you will end up with a pet that will help you brave the darkness of Core Keeper's biomes.
For gamers who have always dreamed of living the life of a witch, these indie titles are perfect fulfillment.
Incubators are an early building that takes up one tile on the map. It can be crafted using x8 Copper Bar and x8 Glass Shards on the Copper Workbench. However, the incubator doesn't run on its own; it requires electricity to function.
Glass shards can be crafted by melting any sand block in a Glass Smelter. Glass Smelters can be crafted on the Copper Workbench for x5 Copper bars.
Electricity generation isn't very complex in Core Keeper, though it can be used to create very complex systems. The easiest way to generate electricity is by using a Lever and Electrical Wire. both these items can be crafted on the Electronics Table, which can itself be crafted on the Copper Workbench, requiring x8 Copper bar and x8 Wood.
Place the lever and the incubator, connecting the two with electrical wire. Once the lever is connected, turn it on, and watch the incubator come to life. Then, place the egg inside the incubator and wait for it to hatch.
